A competent person is the one who looks over the safety at a work site. He/She has the authority to take corrective measures when hazardous conditions exist and are recognized. OSHA mandates that employees involved in operations including erecting, repairing, dismantling, and inspecting scaffolds must be trained by a “competent person”. Employees thereafter should be able to recognize any hazards associated with the above activities.
