Military Symbols are required by the Department of Defense (DoD) to be posted at locations that store ammunition and explosives (AE). The distinct symbol helps firefighting personnel easily recognize the type of hazard and apply proper technique to control it.

• Military Fire Division Symbol Signs indicate four categories of hazards AE pose. Each of these four fire division symbols include a distinct number and shape to indicate a specific hazard.
• Choose between two different sizes and five different materials to best fit your location's needs. Materials are available in reflective plastic or reflective sheeting. Reflective is ideal for EMS workers that must quickly determine the nature of the hazard – even in the dark or in blackout conditions.
• All symbols are compliant with Department of Defense Ammunition & Explosives Safety Standards - DoD 6055.09-STD, Chapter 8, paragraph C8.3. The color of the symbols (black on orange) complies with Federal Standard 595A.
